South Hadley — Richard Joseph Ross, 88, passed away on January 5, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center. Born on February 24, 1937, in Holyoke, MA, he was the son of Walter and Lydia (Marin) Ross.
Richard spent his career with National Blank Book and later Avery Dennison, retiring in 2001. He was an avid golfer who found great joy on the fairways of Wykoff Country Club and the Orchards Golf Club. Richard and his best friend Norm were the most feared twosome at both courses for over 25 years!! A devoted sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.
Richard leaves behind his wife, Kathleen Theresa (Bullough) Ross; his children, Donna M. (Ross) Courchesne and her husband Gary of Ludlow, and Richard Joseph Ross, Jr. of Hatfield, MA. He is also survived by his stepson, Jim Grandchamp and his wife Michelle of South Hadley, and his stepdaughter, Sharyn Camrye of Ft. Myers, FL. Richard was a grandfather to Christopher Richard Courchesne and Sara Elizabeth Courchesne, both of Ludlow; and step-grandfather to Kristin Fredette and her husband Christopher of Ware, MA, and James Michael Grandchamp of Chicopee. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Reilly-Courchesne and Qwen Christopher Reilly-Courchesne. He will be deeply missed by his close friends, Norm Provost and Norm’s son Jim, whose friendship meant so much to him.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.
