Alice Marie Emmet, age 100, passed away peacefully in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born on November 15, 1925, in Quogue, Long Island, New York, Alice lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, devotion to family, and an enduring love of learning and community. Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Joseph Emmet, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership. She is survived by her six children: Robert Emmet, Patricia Gowland, Maureen Wright, Losana Boyd, Janet Paroo, and Karen Saron; her 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride in her life. A devoted member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church for over 70 years, Alice lived her faith through action. She was recognized by the Women’s Service League of St. Petersburg for 50 years of dedicated service, honoring her lifelong commitment to helping those in need in her community. Alice enjoyed a long and respected career as an administrator for the Pinellas County Public Defender’s Office, where she worked for more than 30 years. She remained in the role until the age of 74, retiring only when she decided it was time to spend more hours on the tennis court. An avid tennis player, devoted reader, enthusiastic volunteer, and loving matriarch, Alice found her greatest happiness in time spent with family. She also deeply loved music and attended The Florida Orchestra for as long as she was able, finding peace and joy in its performances. Services will be held on January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady’s Chapel at St. Jude’s Cathedral, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Florida Orchestra, whose music brought Alice great comfort and happiness throughout her life. Alice Marie Emmet will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, strength, and the remarkable legacy of love she leaves behind.
