Mark Edward Schlesinger, born June 21, 1961, in Palmer, Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by the love of those who cherished him.
Mark was the beloved son of Edward Arthur Schlesinger and Regina Elaine Schlesinger. He grew up in Palmer, where he developed a lifelong love for fishing, animals, and the outdoors — passions that stayed with him throughout his life.
Mark was known for having a heart of gold. Although he never had children of his own, he played an important and loving role in the lives of many children who came into his world. He helped care for them, supported them, and remained close with them from childhood into adulthood. To those children, he was a steady presence, a protector, and someone they could always count on.
He loved his dogs, Vito and Sophie, more than anything. They were his constant companions and brought him endless comfort and joy. Mark also took great pride in his 1956 International pickup truck, which he loved to tinker with and restore. He was proud of his work and the friendships he built at Precision Concepts in Ludlow, Massachusetts, where he was respected, valued and appreciated.
Mark found happiness in simple but meaningful moments — fishing, watching wildlife, and spending time in Galilee, Rhode Island, where he enjoyed taking part in deep-sea fishing charters. These moments reflected his peaceful, adventurous, and thoughtful spirit.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Kennison, and his brother, Paul Schlesinger, both of Palmer, Massachusetts; as well as his nieces and nephews, Kyle Schlesinger and Kara Schlesinger of Palmer, Massachusetts, Heather Diaz of Riverview, Florida, Kristy Rice of Spring Hill, Florida, and Tyler Lang of Hudson, Florida
He was preceded in death by his parents, Regina Elaine Schlesinger and Edward Arthur Schlesinger, and his sister, Lynne Ruth Butler.
Those who knew Mark will always remember his playful and amusing banter, his deep love for his dogs, and the quiet kindness that defined his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Mark made it clear in his end-of-life plans that he did not wish to have services. His family honors this request and invites loved ones to remember him in their own meaningful ways.
