Richard Joseph McMahon, age 78 of Longmont, Colorado passed away on December 12, 2025, at Adara Living Memory Care Center, in Broomfield, Colorado, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Richard was born on February 5th, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, the first son of Richard J. McMahon, Sr. and Muriel McMahon (Nee Hall).

Richard attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Erasmus Hall High School, in Brooklyn, where he excelled at track.

After graduating from High School in 1964, Richard began working for JP Morgan Bank, until 1965 when the family moved to Bowie, Maryland. Upon arriving in Maryland, Richard enlisted in the Navy, in April of 1966. Richard was stationed at Norfolk, Va., aboard the guided missile destroyer, Richard E. Byrd, (DDG-23). Richard participated in numerous cruises to the Mediterranean Sea, and one cruise to the North Sea. His ship was one of the first to give assistance to the US Navy Ship, Liberty, when it was attacked by the Israeli Air Force, during the first Arab/Israeli War. Richard completed his active service in January of 1970.

After completing military service Richard followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Prince George County, Maryland Police Force. Within a few years, Richard decided police work was not for him.

Richard then began what would be his lifelong career with the CINTAS Corporation, rising to the position of Route Manager.

In August of 1985 Richard married his soul mate, Beverly Bigham, and adopted his only daughter, Jennifer Ellen, in April of 1989. The family settled in Millersville, Maryland, and enjoyed many wonderful years there. Beverly passed in 2006 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. After Beverly’s passing, Richard retired from CINTAS and moved to Longmont, Colorado to be closer to his only brother Greg McMahon.

Richard was very proud of his service to our Country. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 32 in Longmont Colorado., where he formed numerous lifelong friendships. He was an avid reader, and a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens, his favorite football team.

Richard is survived by his daughter Jennifer Ellen Czajkowski (Andrew), of Glen Burnie, Maryland, his granddaughter Gabriella Czajkowski, his brother Greg (Evelyn) McMahon of Longmont, Colorado. A sister Denise Belcher (Woodrow), of Bowie, Maryland, and a sister Barbara Ann Maier (Glenn), of Silverdale, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sr., and Murial, and his wife Beverly. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
