Bruce was the first born of 4 children. #1 son and big brother to three sisters. He is survived by two - Mary French and Patty Boysen. He was Dad to Genevieve Birch, Karina Kaai, and Enrique Cremades, and Yayo to Conor Birch and Kalani Kaai. He leaves behind many cousins and uncles, one of whom - Dwight - was more like a brother growing up. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents Chuck and Shirley McKeever, and his sister Pamela McKeever.
Bruce’s mother grew up in Hugo, a small town in eastern Colorado, and as a child Bruce loved traveling there to visit his Grandma. On family trips, Bruce was usually the first to spot the Hugo water tower—a sure signal to start the familiar refrain, “I go, we go, we all go to Hugo.” Those trips were filled with laughter and lasting memories.
Pinball was Bruce’s lifelong passion, and through it he built a wide circle of friends in bars all across the Denver area. Wherever there was a pinball machine, Bruce found camaraderie, competition, and joy. His dedication and skill led him to compete at a high level, earning him a spot in a national pinball competition in Las Vegas—honors he was deeply proud of.
Beyond pinball, Bruce’s interests were many. He enjoyed camping, freshwater fishing, shooting, singing, traveling, and trying new foods, never shying away from a new experience. His love of travel took him around the world—Bruce visited every continent except Africa. When traveling for work, he often took extra days to explore nearby cities, eager to experience new places and cultures. A natural inventor, he showed his curiosity and creativity early on and was the only one of the children allowed to play with “his” erector set.
Bruce graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in engineering. He spent 35 years working for Martin Marietta before retiring to enjoy time with the love of his life, Maria. Retirement suited Bruce well. He relished time tinkering in his garage and even built a working sailboat which he and Maria took out onto Chatfield Reservoir —he also got an international certificate in the U.S Virgin Islands to sail in open water which he enjoyed.
Bruce loved life deeply and fought long and hard to continue living it, facing challenges with determination and courage against all odds. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, warmth, curiosity, creativity, competitive spirit, and the joy he brought to those around him. He is greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
