Helen (Ostrowski) Domurat, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 76, leaving behind cherished memories for her family and friends. While her parents were in en route to America, Helen was born on August 17, 1949, to the late Joseph and Anna (Walkowicz) Ostrowski, in Halstead, England. They arrived to America soon after where they received kind and generous support from her "Uncle Benny".

Helen was preceded in death by her adored husband, Casmir Domurat Jr., in 2025, and by her brothers, Anthony and Kazimier Zalucki. Helen will be dearly missed by her two sons, lovingly referred to as "her boys," Steven and Daniel Domurat. She also leaves behind her beloved grand dogs, many nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends, many of whom she formed close bonds with during her teaching career.

Helen dedicated her career to education. She began her career as a 1st grade teacher at Mater Dolorosa in Holyoke. After taking a pause to nurture her family, she returned to teaching at Mater Dolorosa, sharing her passion for education with countless young minds. She later taught for the Chicopee School District as a 1st grade teacher for many years until her retirement in 2010.

Her radiant smile, sense of humor, and loving nature could brighten any room. Helen was guided in life by her faith, and family was the cornerstone of her life. Every moment spent with her loved ones was cherished.

Guided in life by her faith, Helen was an involved member of Mater Dolorosa church and often assisted in their BINGO events. Helen loved polka music and dancing, had a penchant for shopping, and took pleasure in gardening — her love for flowers evident in every bloom.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible hospice and nursing staff who provided compassionate care to Helen, treating her as a valued member of their own family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley, with burial immediately following at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.

Helen Domurat's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family and education will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but forever in the hearts of her loved ones.
