Doris Jean Johnson Davis went home to be with Lord on Sept. 3, 2017 at the age of 81. She passed peacefully at the Church Hill Rehab and Healthcare facility after a long fight with Alzheimer's Disease. Doris was born in Eidson, TN on July 23, 1936, but spent most of her life in Surgoinsville. She was a very caring and warm hearted mother who loved all of her dear grandchildren more than life itself. She loved picking fruit from her trees, tending to her gardens, and canning with her grandchildren. She made sure all their needs were met like only a loving grandmother would do. Doris always put the needs of others before her own. She always seemed to smile even during the toughest times and will always be remembered in our hearts as the best mom and mamaw anyone could have had. Doris was preceded in death by parents; Dan and Mary Jane Johnson, brothers and sisters; Leola Johnson, Alice Ilene Johnson, John Otis Johnson, Olene Jones, William Harris Johnson, Mahala Cox, and Hazel Necessary; and son-in-law Travis Baker. Surviving are her brother Homer Johnson and sister Ivadell Hayes both of Surgoinsville; three children; Lisa Davis Tate (husband Curtis) of Rogersville, Steve Davis (wife Pam) of Kingsport, and Kathy Baker of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; Heather Davis, Private 2nd Class Nicholas Matthew Davis, Petty Officer 3rd Class Dakoda Davis, Camille Davis, Brittany Davis, O'licia and Serenity Gray and many nieces and nephews. A very special Thank you to the nurses and administration of Church Hill Healthcare. Their loving and patient hearts will always be remembered for taking such good care of our precious Doris. God bless each one. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Chris Bishop officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Hawkins County Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am to go in procession. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Doris Jean by visiting www. alz.org. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is proudly serving the Davis family.
