Phillip A. Burchell, 81, husband of Sharon T. Burchell, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Aaron and Ellen Williams Burchell on December 20, 1940. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired employee of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government. Mr. Burchell was an active member of Midway Christian Church as an elder emeritus and on the board of Trustees. He was also a choir and handbell member, his free time was spent gardening. In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Autumn Houghton, Nicholasville, Scarlet Van Gilder,(Mike)Russel Springs, Justina Neikirk(David), Lancaster, and Kathleen Trimble (Scott),Lancaster; stepson, Mark Gannon(Colbye), Berea; stepdaughter, Mary Helfenberger(John), Lexington; sisters, Jean Cox, Pat Asher, all of Lexington, Mary Rainey, Nicholasville, and Judy Abney, Paris; brother David Burchell, Paris; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Midway Christian Church with Rev. Heather McColl officiating. Visitation 12:30 followed by a short service. A reception will follow at the church in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway Christian Church Community dinner fund,Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain, NC.,or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
