Riverside Funeral Home was founded in 1998 by Charles "Charlie" M. Finegan, a second-generation funeral director dual-licensed in New Mexico and Texas. Finegan initially operated as a mortuary trade provider before expanding to direct consumer cremation services in 2004, and opening an independent on-site crematory in 2007 to reduce third-party logistical costs. A formal chapel space was added in 2009. Charlie Finegan built a sustained relationship with the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator and regional county commissioners to ensure cremation and burial services were available for indigent and unclaimed individuals in the Albuquerque area — work that earned formal recognition from county officials and local media coverage. Riverside Funeral Home continues to participate in this program as part of its ongoing commitment to the broader Albuquerque community. The location is situated in the Southeast Heights neighborhood within Albuquerque's International District.
The facility includes a chapel, an on-site crematory, and space for identification viewings, private viewings, and witness cremations. Spanish-language services are available.
Riverside Funeral Home - Albuquerque does not operate an on-site cemetery and does not offer pet cremation services.
