Lexington, KY James C. Grigsby, peacefully departed this life on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital, following a determined battle against Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jim is survived by his adoring daughter Rebecca Connell and devoted wife Susan Grigsby. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lula Grigsby and his son James Mark. After a 30 year career as a letter carrier with the US Postal Service, Jim was owner and operator of a successful courier business, Grigsby Courier Service serving the Equine community. Jim was one of 14 brothers and sisters. He is survived by brother Earl (Wilma Dell) Grigsby, Richard (Pat) Grigsby, Harold (Patsy) Grigsby all of Springfield, KY; sisters Geneva Reddicks of Lexington, Ruella King, Joetta Grimes of Bardstown and Eleanor (Melvin Curtsinger) of Springfield, KY. He was preceded in death by his brother David Grigsby; sisters Dorothy Lyvers, Narvel Witsatt, Mary Zukas and Kay Rhodes. Another sister Faye Parsons also passed away within a few hours of Jim. He is also survived by a brother-in-law he considered a brother, Charlie (Statia Clay) of Richmond, KY. Family was very important to Jim and he had many adoring nieces and nephews, whom he enjoyed. Over the years, his canine companions, Peaches, Thadeus, Bandit, Lucky and Coonie, were his best friends. Jim enjoyed UK Wildcat Basketball, collecting Ray Harm prints, cruising Lake Herrington on his pontoon boat, debating politics and fried chicken. Over the years, Jim had developed close relationships with many of his wife Susan's girlfriends. Melanie Turner, Dana Rice, Genie Vaughn and Bitsy Thompson became his friends as well. Funeral Information There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. Family and friends will also gather from 11-12 noon, Wednesday, October 21, 2015, with a time of sharing beginning at noon. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery at 1 PM.
